The list of Sci-Fi movies in 2015 will leave you breathless! If you’ve really skimped out on going to the theater in 2014, certainly ensure that you have enough time on your hands, because 2015 has a stunning line up of movies! and not just Sci-Fi, but across ALL genres. For now, let’s take a look at the top 10 most anticipated Sci-Fi movies we can’t wait to watch!

Mind you, this is NOT the entire list of sci-fi movies coming out in 2015, just that ones we’re REALLY looking forward to watch. We’re ordered them by release date, so mark your calendars…and let’s get on with our list!

Jupiter Ascending

Release Date: February 6
The Wachowskis are back again after Cloud Atlas, and let me tell you, they’re not taking any prisoners with this one! From the visuals that we’ve seen in the trailer, this is quite literally next-gen stuff. The movie stars Mila Kunis, who plays Juiper Jones, whose life seems to be an endless row of bad breaks and toilet cleaning assignments. However, she unknowingly carries a genetic legacy that entitles her to power beyond her imagination. All that changes when Caine Wise, a genetically engineered interplanetary warrior, played by Channing Tatum, reveals to her that her genetic signature makes her royalty and an heir to Earth. It’s all fun and games, until he has to protector from bounty hunters and those who wish to harvest the planet for for own greed rather than see it go to Juipiter Jones.

Ex Machina

Release Date: April 10

Ex Machina stars Domhnall Gleeson, Oscar Isaac and Alicia Vikander., revolves around a young coder who gets the chance to meet with the most advanced AI, who is housed in a robotic body that looks like a beautiful girl. What follows is a three way plot twist and we’ll just have to wait and see who’s playing whom. You can also check out the official site for Ex Machina

Avengers: Age of Ultron

Release Date: May 1

For us, this is THE most anticipated movie of 2015! Marvel’s A-List of super heroes reunite again to face, what is possibly their greatest threat. When Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) jumpstarts a dormant peacekeeping program, things go terribly awry, forcing him, Thor (Chris Hemsworth), the Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and the rest of the Avengers to reassemble. As the fate of Earth hangs in the balance, the team is put to the ultimate test as they battle Ultron (James Spader), a technological terror hell-bent on human extinction. Along the way, they encounter two mysterious and powerful newcomers, Pietro and Wanda Maximoff.

Tomorrowland

Release Date: May 20

A former boy-genius (George Clooney) and a gifted teenager (Britt Robertson) set out on a dangerous mission to unearth the secrets of “Tomorrowland,” an enigmatic location caught between time and space. The overall premise sounds interesting, and what little we’ve seen in the trailer, has that essence of Disney magic; but not sure where it exactly fits. I keep imagining that Clooney is going to turn out to be a psycho in the movie! LOL.

Jurassic World

Release Date: June 12

Well, you have dinosaurs, then you have genetically modified dinosaurs, and a whole new world for them to wreck havoc in. Do you any more reasons to watch the movie? The movie stars Chris Pratt and if you’re desi, our very own Irrfan Khan! The movie takes place 22 years after the events of Jurassic Park and now now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond. Until of course, as we mentioned earlier, all hell breaks loose!

Terminator: Genisys

Release Date: July 1

What makes this stand out…or at least expect to stand out, is the fact that they’ve reset the entire Terminator series timeline. Which means, in their world, Terminator 3 and 4 never happened, not did any of the Sarah Conner Chronicles. Which makes me also wish, I was part of that world. Anyway, the movie stars Emilia Clarke and Jai Courtney…oh and there’s a bad as T-1000 as well! Also note…that it’s “Genisys”…and not Genesis. 😉

Ant-Man

Release Date: July 17

Another movie from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and we’re just as excited for this as we are for Avengers: Age of Ultron. However, there are several questions that we’re hoping will get answered in due course. Mostly the questions revolve around; how will this fit into post-Age of Ultron Phase Three? The movie stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, a small time crook who ends up with scientist Hank Pym’s technology for getting really really small. Michael Douglas is on-board as Pym, and Peyton Reed, who directed Down With Love, is at the helm. Our opinion is to keep an open mind for this and from what little we’ve seen in the trailers, it looks stunning!

The Fantastic Four

Release Date: August 7

While the two Fantastic Four movies didn’t really do much for the franchise, we’re hoping the reboot will be something good. The initial reports of the cast were controversial to say the least, especially Johnny Storm not being played by a Caucasian, we’re certainly ready to see past all of that, and hope the movie finally does justice to the franchise.

The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

Release Date: August 14

At the height of the Cold War, a mysterious criminal organization plans to use nuclear weapons and technology to upset the fragile balance of power between the United States and Soviet Union. CIA agent Napoleon Solo (Henry Cavill) and KGB agent Illya Kuryakin (Armie Hammer) are forced to put aside their hostilities and work together to stop the evildoers in their tracks. The duo’s only lead is the daughter of a missing German scientist, whom they must find soon to prevent a global catastrophe. Well, it’s based on the 60’s TV show, so if you haven’t seen it, you’re in for a real CIA style ride!

The Martian

Release Date: November 25

Matt-Damon-Eyes-The-Martian

Despite the fact that Ridley Scott continues to disappoint of late, we can’t help but get excited about his movies. Nobody shoots shafts of light quite like he does. And this one may get some unusual illumination, as it is set on the red planet of Mars. Matt Damon, fresh from his out-of-this-world isolation in Interstellar, plays a marooned astronaut on a Martian colony. Of note: the book upon which this is based was originally self-published by its author on Amazon. So keep hope alive, ye amateur novelists!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Release Date: December 18

Looks like they’re saving the best for the last! If there was a movie that we had to choose after the Avengers: Age of Ultron, it’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The movie is directed by JJ Abrams, and is the 7th installment of the series. Many members of the old cast will reprise their roles, and the events will be set 30 years after Return of the Jedi, and o course, John Williams returns to compose the score.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens, will be the first part of the third trilogy. The first one being Episodes IV, V and VI; the second one being Episode I, II, III.

There you have it folks, our most anticipated list of Sc-fi movies to watch out for in 2015! What’s on your list? Chime in, in the comments below!
