Following the tragic death of actor Paul Walker this weekend, Universal Pictures announced Tuesday that a portion of the sales from the DVD, Blu-Ray and digital releases of Fast & Furious 6 will go to Walker’s charity Reach Out Worldwide.
As covered by Entertainment Weekly; The Chairman of Universal Pictures, Donna Langley had this to say “With the passing of Paul, the world has lost a man who spent a great deal of his life in service to others. We share in the deep grief of his family, friends and the countless fans who love him, we keep Paul’s memory alive and honor his legacy through continued support of Reach Out WorldWide, the non-profit he founded to give hope to those who must rebuild after they have experienced natural disasters.”
After massive earthquakes devastated most of Haiti in 2010, where Paul Walker had just returned from a trip prior to that incident, he started ROWW. The organization is a network of professionals with first responder skill-sets who augment local expertise when natural disasters strike in order to accelerate relief efforts.
Fast & Furious 6 will be available on Blu-ray, DVD, digital and VOD on Dec. 10. Those wishing to express condolences to the Walker family are also encourage to make a donation to ROWW through their web site.
