Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – Review

Valhalla

This is certainly a fresh new take on the series and it is amazing! Fans have been asking for a long time about the era of the Viking and Valhalla is the perfect Assassin’s Creed game to that end.

When you think back about Origins and Odyssey, they not only looked similar, but also played rather similarly; but Valhalla brings a fresh new look and take on the franchise; with it’s icy plains, snow-capped mountains, and lush English countryside, is a treat for the eyes and refreshing change of scene.

In addition to the visual change, Origins and Odyssey felt like too much of a grind; and Valhalla makes a tangible effort to put the focus firmly on exploration. There are fewer weapons and gear items, and there’s less level-gating overall. Valhalla is still every bit the same full-on role-playing experience, but it feels less of a chore to play, which is a hugely welcome change. Most notably, the settlement-building system, which serves as a nexus point for the entire game-play experience.

Add to the mix the top notch story line and in my view, this is the best Assassin’s Creed EVER!

There are however a few downsides – especially tons of bugs; nothing to detract from the experience, but enough to question the final quality control. Also if you’re a major action RPG player – you’ll find the controls to be a bit stiff at times; and while this isn’t personally something I found annoying – but there may be players who might find this off-putting.

Overall – a must play and a must own. You cannot go wrong with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla!
