J.J. Abrams will not be returning to direct this movie as he is currently working on Star Wars: Episode VII. Though no director has been confirmed, many forums have begun speculating. Roberto Orci, who was one of the co-writers, will be making changes to his team, brining in J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay for the next instalment of the Star Trek. Robert had written the previous two instalments with Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof. While some may think that without Lindelof & Abrams, this instalment may move away from the general theme that the first two instalments of this reboot has set, which may not be a bad thing. New ideas and direction will keep this franchise going. As long as they don’t take the famous tag line a little too seriously:
To boldly go where no man has gone before.
We can expect to see the return of the stars: Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana. With the success of the previous movie: Star Trek Into Darkness, the studio may not hold back on the celebrations with the next one. No title or schedules have been announced for this film but we should expect to see something for the year 2016, marking the 50 year anniversary of the franchise.
