Apple’s latest and greatest mobile OS is ready for download – For iPhone 3G, 3GS and iPod Touch users, the wait is over. Apple released its iOS4 mobile operating system today, and it’s now officially available for download.
In order to get your hands on iOS4, you’ll need the latest version of iTunes (9.2) downloaded on your computer, and you’ll also want to run a manual backup of your iDevice to prevent any critical data loss, if you haven’t done so already.
Once that’s squared away, all you have to do is download and install iOS 4 and you’ll have full access to the new features such as app folder organization, a new Mail app, iBooks, custom backgrounds, local notifications and more. The coveted multitasking feature will also be available for the 3GS and third-gen iPod Touch, but, unfortunately, not for the original iPhone, iPhone 3G, or the first and second-gen iPod Touch.
